Here are two pictures of his bench. I got there just when the carpenter was working on it. It was unbelievable timing. The Glacier Chair was down most of the day. At the end of the day it was running so Eric, Patrick and I went up for the first run. We went down the cat track and saw the carpenter, Terry, starting to cut the insert for the plaque. I stayed with him the entire time. It was almost dark when I skied down. He finished it this morning. I have some great photos but took them on the camera not the iPhone so I can't download them until I get home.
I don't think it was chance that I got there when I did.

2/21/11 The snow depths are around 7 feet, almost covering the bench.
Peter learned to ski at age 3. He skied with his Dad at Whistler Blackcomb in Canada and locally at Crystal Mountain which is 75 miles from Mercer Island. They had many favorite spots and would move from area to area during the day depending on the snow conditions and lift lines. A perennial favorite was a spot at the top of Blackcomb Mountain called Crystal Ridge. That location is north facing and the snow is always fresher than anywhere else. They started skiing it when Peter was 5 years old. It was the last place they skied together on New Years Eve just before he left everyone.
Two plaques commemorating Peter's love for the mountain are on top of Blackcomb Mountain near the Crystal Ridge Chair: one on a huge boulder and one on a bench designed especially to honor Peter.
