Broken Smiles

You'll see a family happy as can be

But if you look closer at this happy family

You will see there is sorrow in their eyes

You may think they have it all

Loving children, caring parents, sweet pets

But when you look closer something's missing

It's not the dogs or  the cats

Nor the beautiful scenery

But it is a piece of them

Something they all loved

Something that made them all laugh

Something they could never forget or be replaced

But because this is unable to be returned

The smiles will always remain broken

And their souls will always carry sorrow
